Hope Mini Mono....

The lever and hose remain the same, but you instantly notice some new visual changes.

The caliper is now anodized black, with only a laser-enhanced HOPE logo on the top (see pic), and the new bling bling gold piston cover. The rotor has also been neatened up too, with the wavy design out the window and in with a neater round design with cooling fins.

The caliper has gone under some nice and useful tweaks: like the body is now a one-piece unit, some you wont have any problems of leakage or caliper separation if you didn't do up the bolts properly, and the pistons are now set in a stain-less steel insert which helps to stop heat build up and will protect them from moving parts (rotors). They have also shrunk with a choice of 160 or 180mm up at the front and 140 and 160mm at the rear.

For 2004 the brake pads have changed as Hope are using a new undisclosed manufacturer, known for its consistent compounds that are suppose to improve your braking performance and keep the heat down.

The one-piece caliper gives the mini Mono a lever pull a firmer feel and it has a higher lock-up threshold.

Truvativ Hussefelt DH cranks

Do you want a new set of DH cranks but don't want the weight and the expensive the why don't you try these Truvativ Hussefelt DH cranks. They are designed in the US and made from a 'secret forged alloy'. They come as ISIS drive only, 170mm strong, stiff arms (which Martin hasn't buggerd yet) and come only in Black. Nice little touches include a heat treated cromoly threaded insert for the peadls which helps reduce your pedals being stripped out and that they pay so much attention to the detail by;pregreasing the important parts.Nice.And one of the best things is the price, at £69.99 these are a pretty good buy.

DMR V8s

DMR brought cheap platform pedals to the masses a few years ago and has been tweaking and refining them ever since. The V8 comes with chromo spindles and has replaceable (easer said than done) Allen studs on the cast aluminum body. The V8 is the cheaper, open-bearing version of the standard DMR pedal, and because of this, the V8 now has a grease port. Simply undo the grub screw and syringe in the V-lube (comes in the box) to keep the pedal running smoothly. The V8 is great value and long lasting as two of TheGlas has run these for a year and still running great, and all for a small price of £23.99.
